Welcome to the Key Stage 1 Wiki Space!

Welcome to Key Stage 1 at Newton International School, D-Ring. We are starting a brand new academic year of 2013-2014 and we are looking forward to many exciting things!

In Key Stage 1 we strive to make a happy and positive learning environment for all. We aim to communicate with you as best as we can. Through this site you will find lots of information regarding Key Stage 1, however if there are any queries or questions not answered here please feel free to make an appointment and visit your class teacher or Key Stage Coordinator at school.

Through this site you will find information about weekly homework, events, newsletters, policies, links to useful websites and other announcements.

Please do check it regularly and keep up to date with us!

Please ensure your children are collected from school at 12:30pm for EYFS and 1:30pm for Key Stages 1, 2 and 3.

Healthy Eating!

Within Key Stage 1 we encourage all students and staff to eat healthily! Healthy Snacks in the classroom are essential for good learning and growing. The link between nutrition and learning is very important. By having a healthy eating pattern your are helping your child to achieve their full academic potential, full physical and mental growth and lifelong health and well-being.

At Newton International School we encourage the students to bring healthy snacks. What is included in the children’s lunch bag is very important to how they will react to their learning for the rest of the day. We are asking that you as parents provide your child with a healthy snack for their lunch time. We do understand that being a parent is a busy job so below there is a few examples of foods which can be prepared in advance:

Practical issues for busy families:

Foods should be simple and easy to prepare, ready to eat and appetising after several hours storage in the lunch box. Foods such as sandwiches can be prepared the night before or on the weekend, frozen, then taken for each day’s lunch box. Suitable foods to freeze include:
  • Bread
  • Cooked meat
  • Cheese
  • Peanut butter
  • Baked beans
  • Mashed eggs
  • Yeast or vegetable spreads such as Vegemite.

Below is a list of ideas that could be considered as part of a healthy snack.
